Knesset Israel – Israeli Parliament

Location: Jerusalem
Client: Knesset Israel

The formal and central plaza of the Israeli Parliament
Knesset Israel issued an open tender for the design of the central Weil plaza / Courtyard. Of all the submissions presented, our office unanimously won the competition to design the plaza and its gardens. The winning design was chosen by the Professional Committee, under the leadership of the Director General of the Israeli Parliament, Mr. Ronen Plot.

The courtyard landscape was designed to resemble two trees in bloom. The flower bed blossoms seasonally, whereas the tree trunk and branches are permanent. The two components symbolize the rich diversity of the Knesset’s activity as well as the firm foundation of the legislative process.

The Knesset gardeners carried out the work without bringing in any outside help, which was a significant financial saving. The new landscaping project even aligns well with the “Green Knesset” effort, since the previous courtyard lawn which required large quantities of water, has been changed to flowers that only need a few drops at a time.
