In the west part of the Haarlemmermeer, there will be homes, but it also has a functional role for the water. The Province of Noord-Holland asked developers for creative solutions. AM WonenVista has developed an innovative concept for landscape planning: construction of a dune relief in the polder. This is not only an effective form of water retention, but also a durable base for singular living environments. A lot of water can be stored in the sand much, which makes for clean city water and less brackish seepage. The relief allows for compact neighborhoods with underground parking on the elevated areas and scattered rural residences on the slopes and in the lower sections. The stacking of housing and water storage offers enormous space saving and large savings on land acquisition.
